#VDLR68: Iconography

“The icon for the 68th anniversary of the Canonical Coronation of the Virgen de los Remedios reflects the theme “”Do whatever he tells you”” from the Gospel of John, encapsulating the essence of the Wedding at Cana.
Key Elements:
The Jar Pouring Water into Wine symbolizes Jesus’ first public miracle at Cana, where he transformed water into wine. The jar also signifies Jesus as the vessel of divine grace, cleansing humanity of sin.
Rose: a symbol of Mary, our Virgen de los Remedios, representing her purity, glory, and sorrow. The rose also reflects her deep love for God and Jesus.
Mt. Arayat. The mountain, one of Pampanga’s representations, grounds the logo’s local context and cultural significance.
The Feather represents the apostle John, connecting the theme to the gospel. It also honors the host vicariate, named after St. John the Beloved.
The logo subtly forms the number “”68,”” marking the anniversary year. The design embraces flowing, feminine lines, resonating with the liquid element in the theme, creating a harmonious and graceful visual identity. Conceptualized and created by the Archdiocesan Commission on Social Communications (Rev. Fr. Al R. Manacmul, III, Nigel Ian Laxamana, and Klaine Lester Yabut).

#VDLR68: “DAPTAN YU NANU MAN ING SABYAN NA KEKAYU.”

On September 8, 2024, we joyfully commemorate the 68th anniversary of the canonical coronation of our beloved patroness, the Virgen de los Remedios.

Hosted by the St. John the Beloved Vicariate, the Eucharistic Celebration will be held at the Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) in Magalang and will be presided over by the Most Rev. Florentino G. Lavarias, D.D., Archbishop of San Fernando.

On August 30, 2024, a novena of masses will commence at San Bartolome Parish at 6 pm. Our Archdiocesan Media Network will stream these masses live, enabling the faithful to participate remotely if they are unable to attend in person.

On the feast day, September 8, the celebration will begin with a 3 pm liturgy at San Bartolome Parish. Following the liturgy, the images of the Virgen de los Remedios will be part of a solemn motorcade proceeding to the PSAU grounds, where the eucharistic celebration will take place. After the celebration, the images will be borne in procession back to the San Bartolome Parish Church. The faithful are invited to join the 4.3 KM walk.

Other notes from the Circular Letter 34 Series 2024:

– All parishes are enjoined to celebrate a Mass to commemorate the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the morning of 8 September 2024. However, there will be no coronation rites in the parishes (Circular Letter No. 47, Series 1994, Policy on Local Coronations of the Image of “Virgen de los Remedios”).

– Parishes are also enjoined to cancel masses scheduled in the afternoon in favor of the archdiocesan celebration.

– The faithful are also encouraged to bring their own umbrellas, fans, raincoats, food, water, and other provisions.

More information will be shared soon.
